Unripe Banana Blocking

Wow, two posts in as many days?

This sweater resembles anything but a cherry, so I've re-named it unripe banana. That's the exact color of the yarn - unripe bananas. Gross to eat, but lovely to wear.

So, unripe banana is blocking as we speak. I'm looking forward to a seaming party tonight! Okay, no one's looking foward to seaming, but I am excited about a new, long-overdue sweater!
Stay tuned!

at least seaming does have that going for it - that you can wear it when you're finished! can't wait to see!

I agree: the one good thing about seaming is that you get a wearable garment in the end! Totally worth it.

That is some mighty fine knitting! Have fun with the seaming--I agree the best part about it is being DONE! Except when I don't like the way the sweater comes out :( Then there's nothing good about seaming.

Box Bag Tutorial

A couple of you inquired whether I made this pouch based on a tutorial or pattern and if not, if I could provide one. Ask and you shall receive!

I've learned so much from tutorials out on the internets, I'm happy I can give back for once. Bear with me, though. This is my first tutorial and creating one is much tougher than I imagined. I give anyone who's created a tutorial tons of credit!

I feel obligated to preface this by admitting I'm a trial and error sewer. I make things up as I go along and test things during the sewing process to see if I'm achieving my desired results. Also, I taught myself to sew just playing around on a sewing machine, so I don't always use text book methods. Just wanted come clean before you all jump into this and so you have a little understanding if I did something in a backass way. The pattern works, which is all that matters to me!

Because of the versatility of this pattern, my instructions can be used more as guidelines. You can e…

MONKEY SOCKS

Finished these on Saturday and they haven't left my feet since (well, I did take them off in the shower). These are by far my best fitting, most comfy pair of handkit socks ever. For reals, y'all. Just a satisfying blend of stretchy and warm. In the words of Rach3l Ray, "Yum-O!"

Dad's Sharfik: Done!

Here's Sharfik, blocking. This is the first time I blocked a scarf and didn't even think about it not fitting along the blocking board. I folded it at the corner like below. Not sure what the normal protocol is, but this worked just fine.

Here's the final product. I'll have to get some shots of my dad modeling after I give it to him this weekend.
Pattern: Dad's Sharfik by Kathy at GrumperinaYarn: Karabella Aurora 8 in grey, 4 1/2 balls, purchased at Wild & Wooly in LexingtonNeedles: Size 7 AddisModifications: NoneDates Knitted: January ?, 2006 - February 12, 2006Comments: This was a fun knit and yields (if I do say so myself) a beautiful project. The scarf is nice, thick, and warm, but still nice enough for evening use. I hope my dad likes it! Next up: Norwegian StockingsSo, I've been a total slacker with my Olympic project. I wonder if I can just switch to these... Anyway, Fair Isle is my new best friend. Electra had a little, but didn'…
