Thanks, everyone, for the Cherry / Unripe Banana love! I'm smiling, you just can't see.
Turns out I much needed all your happy, smiley comments because I've had a rough couple days. I was supposed to run the NYC Marathon on Sunday, but injured my foot a few weeks back. I thought I could push through, but finally resigned to the fact that I could permanently mess up my foot and might not even finish. And it only took two sports medicine doctors strongly advising me not to run to reach this conclusion. 5 months of training down the tubes:( There's always next year, though! And I know this is nothing in the whole scheme of things.
Anyway, Happy Halloween! Check out our pumpkins:
Mine's the scary one with fangs, J's has the buck teeth. I love mine. Tee hee.
This is our first year in cookie-cutter suburbia, so we've got high hopes of trick-or-treaters trailing in and out of house all night (as long as my pumpkin doesn't scare them away). Otherwise, we'll be getting fat on all the peanut butter cups we bought.
In the wake of a finished sweater, I cast on for a few quick-hit gifts. First, this long-overdue hat for my dad:
UTOPIA HAT
Pattern: Utopia Hat by Smariek
Yarn: Karabella Aurora 8 in Charcoal, less than 2 balls
Needles: Size 8 Addis
Comments: all positive for the hat, yarn, and pattern. This hat was a long time coming and was made to match the Sharfik I made for my dad almost 2 years ago!
I also whipped up these super quick socks for our friend's brand new baby.
BABY SOCKS
crappy picture, but it was a quick shot taken at night in case I forgot the next morning (which I did)
Pattern: Baby Socks
Yarn: Sundara Sock Yarn in Cirque leftover from these
Needles: Size 1 Addis
Comments: Quick, easy and a good use for leftover sock yarn. It was a bit touch and go by the end - I was running on yarn fumes and the second sock almost got a "special" mismatched toe. There will be plenty more of these as a procreating trend has broken out in our circle of friends.
Next time, I'll tell you how I doubled my stash at Farmhouse Yarns:

Hope you have lots of cute trick or treaters. There is a severe lack of children in this town and I miss seeing all the lil goobers!
(& I love that hat!)
I totally love that hat.
I hope you had oodles of trick or treaters to see your awesome pumpkins.
